I have calmed down a bit since my post earlier this evening. I watched a few youtube clips from Passion of the Christ and was reminded that we are to love our enemies and forgive those who do not know what they do. Other verses came to mind as well. And I see how the Holy Father truly is the Altar Christus, as is every priest.
My visceral reaction was a good thing - maybe not for my heart - but for my soul. I was thinking how quickly Lent had passed and how the last week was totally self indulgent as I was on vacation. The incident today has left me geared up for Holy Week. And that's a good thing.
