V2 Womyn and Theology of the Body

Tonight was the second night of our mission on Theology of the Body. Fr. Matthew Habiger is our speaker. He is dead brilliant!

A couple of "post-V2 womyn" were huddled near the back and one of them asked Father why priests couldn't be married since in Jesus' day they were. (Father had quoted a passage that spoke of Peter's MIL.) He was polite but she knew he was not going to be dragged into debate. He said that the Church discerns these things over time. God meets us where we are and as our understanding develops over time, He leads us more deeply into His plan.

Being the poop disturber that I am, I scribbled out my own question and gave it to the parish secretary to give to Fr. H later so that he could address it tomorrow. On Tuesday we will discuss marriage and TOB.

And you want to know what my question is, don't you?!

I asked: using Theology of the Body can you explain why women can't be priests.

Kim and I were practically jumping up and down in gleeful anticipation! I CANNOT wait until he talks about this tomorrow!

Something else I hadn't realized - there was no celibacy in the OT.

And kookoo question of the day: if the Church is female then is she the spokeswoman or spokesman or spokesperson for Jesus?
