Last night hubby and I were watching hockey. Well, lo and behold, next thing you know one of the commentators was interviewing some person of indeterminate gender about another commentators use of the word "pansification." I guess "gay rights" groups were offended by the word.
"Hockey Night commentator Mike Milbury coined the expression to describe how the NHL would be softened should the league heed calls to ban fighting. He has used "pansification" at least twice on Hockey Night this season, in November and again on Jan. 17. His colleague, Don Cherry, has also made reference to it." (For my non-Canadian readers Don Cherry is about as politically INcorrect as you can get.)
Later on in the broadcast there were several comments made about censorship. These guys were not taking the gay rights group seriously at all.
Earlier in the evening Doug Gilmour's number (he was a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs) was retired. He was introduced along with his children from his first marriage, his fiancee and his new baby daughter.
Thirty years ago this would not have happened. I miss the old days. *sigh*
