I know a young lady who is getting married this year. She told me that instead of favors they are making a donation on the guests behalf to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in honor of the groom's late father.
I think favors are the biggest waste of money and totally useless in the scheme of things. Just don't tell me that H & S supports the abortion industry - I would cry.
If it was MY wedding I'd be donating to the local food bank or Birthright office. Or to our mission in Peru. Actually - imagine throwing a baby shower where all the gifts are donated to a crisis pregnancy center?! Nobody even has to be pregnant - it would just be a fun way to spend the afternoon!
